Egmont Village

[3][4] Egmont Village is defined by Statistics New Zealand as a rural settlement and covers 1.44 km2 (0.56 sq mi)[1] and had an estimated population of 380 as of June 2024,[2] with a population density of 264 people per km2.

Before the 2023 census, the statistical area had a smaller boundary, covering 81.68 km2 (31.54 sq mi).

The percentage of people born overseas was 10.9, compared with 27.1% nationally.

Although some people chose not to answer the census's question about religious affiliation, 57.1% had no religion, 32.0% were Christian, 0.3% had Māori religious beliefs, 0.2% were Buddhist and 1.5% had other religions.

[10] The school is the location of the Egmont Village Blockhouse, a defensive building set up in 1868, due to settlers' fears during Tītokowaru's War.
