The member for Ryde was Edward Terry (Independent Liberal) who did not contest the election.
James Farnell was a sitting member for St Leonards and went on to successfully contest New England.

James Pye petitioned against the election alleging his supporters had been intimidated from voting, however this was dismissed as unproven.
