Eli is an unincorporated community in Cherry County, Nebraska, United States.
It is also about 8.3 miles (13.4 km) west of the Cottonwood Lake State Recreational Area.
Eli was named for Daniel Webster Hitchcock, a railroad employee whose nickname was "Get-there-Eli".
[2][3] A post office was established at Eli in 1909, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1967.
