Pilots utilise a Common Traffic Advisory Frequency (CTAF) to safely co-ordinate arrivals and departures as there is no control tower located at this airport.

Emkaytee is listed as an approved flight training facility by Recreational Aviation Australia[5] In late 2012, an all weather tie-down area on the southern side of the airfield was sealed with bitumen.
