Energy, Illinois

Energy is a village in Williamson County, Illinois, United States.

[3] What is now Energy was originally known as "Fordville," which was established in the early 1900s as a stop along the Coal Belt Railway.

It was named for Wiley Ford and his son, William, who platted the village.

[4] In 1909, Herbert Taylor (1876–1937) purchased the coal mining operations in the area.

[7] As of the 2000 United States Census,[9] there were 1,175 people, 481 households, and 304 families residing in the village.
