Fåberg

[4] The prestegjeld of Faaberg (later spelled Fåberg) was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt law).

During the 1960s, there were many municipal mergers across Norway due to the work of the Schei Committee.

[5] The municipality (originally the parish) is named after the old Faaberg farm (Old Norse: Fágaberg) since the first Fåberg Church was built there.

[6] On 21 December 1917, a royal resolution enacted the 1917 Norwegian language reforms.

[9] The municipal council (Herredsstyre) of Fåberg was made up of representatives that were elected to four year terms.
