After the 1989 Romanian Revolution, the factory began to have financial problems and in 2000 was bought by Syrian businessman Imad Kassas.
[4] Metaloglobus finished first at the end of the 2016–17 season, 11 points in front of 2nd-placed Viitorul Domnești, and were promoted to the Liga II for the first time in their history.
