Federal University of Mato Grosso

Responsible for serving the entire state, its main campus is in the capital city of Cuiabá.

Smaller campuses are located in Barra do Garças, Pontal do Araguaia, Sinop, and Várzea Grande, while the former campus at Rondonópolis is now the Federal University of Rondonópolis [pt], split off in 2018.

[2] The contemporary institution was created by a federal law passed in 1970, combining the Federal Faculty of Law of Cuiabá (founded in 1934), and the Institute of Sciences and Letters of Cuiabá (founded in 1966).
