Fernando García (composer)

Fernando García (born July 4, 1930) is a Chilean composer.

He also played a role in the beginnings of electroacoustic music in Chile, after a trip he made to France in the early 1950s where he heard musique concrete.

[1] He worked for the Instituto de Extensión Musical of the University of Chile, and in 1962 he premiered the cantata América Insurrecta, which won an award at the Chilean Music Festival.

He returned to his country in 1989 and joined the Faculty of Arts of the University of Chile where he taught musicology until 2009.

[3] In 2013 he was recognized by the Sociedad Chilena del Derecho de Autor (SCD) as one of the Fundamental figures of Chilean music.
