Field hockey at the 2020 Summer Olympics – Men's tournament

It was originally scheduled to be held from 25 July to 6 August 2020, but on 24 March 2020, the Olympics were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

[2] Argentina won the previous olympic field hockey event but were eliminated in the quarterfinals.

Belgium captured their first gold medal after defeating Australia in the final after penalties.

[3] India won their first hockey medal since 1980 Summer Olympics by defeating Germany in the bronze-medal match.

Following the completion of the round-robin stage, the top four teams from each group advanced to the quarter-finals.
