[4] When the communists took over Romania, Radu moved abroad, firstly in Hungary at Szentlőrinci, afterwards in Italy at AS Roma, Cosenza and Marsala.
[7] Florian Radu was born on 8 April 1920 in Bucharest, Romania, starting to play football at local club, Metaloglobus in the Romanian lower leagues.
[2][4][8] At the end of the season, Radu won his first trophy, the 1939–40 Cupa României, coach Ștefan Auer using him in one of the four games against Venus București from the final.
[2][4][8] In 1948, as Romania was becoming communist, he moved to Hungary at Szentlőrinci, making his Nemzeti Bajnokság I debut on 15 February under coach János Nagy in a 3–2 home loss to Csepel.
[2][4][8][15] Radu played one friendly game at international level for Romania on 11 October 1942 when coach Ion Lăpușneanu used him all the minutes in a 2–2 draw against Croatia in which he scored one goal.
