Frâncești

Frâncești is a commune located in Vâlcea County, Oltenia, Romania.

It is composed of nine villages: Băluțoaia, Coșani, Dezrobiți, Frâncești, Genuneni, Mănăilești, Moșteni, Surpatele, and Viișoara.

It lies on the banks of the river Bistrița and its left tributary, the Otăsău.

Frâncești is located in the central part of Vâlcea County, 24 km (15 mi) southwest of the county seat, Râmnicu Vâlcea.

The commune is known for two Romanian Orthodox monasteries — Mănăstirea Dintr-un Lemn [ro] and Surpatele Monastery [ro] — and for the churches in Genuneni and Viișoara.
