[3] His father was the eldest son of George Sutherland-Leveson-Gower, 2nd Duke of Sutherland and the former Lady Harriett Howard (the third daughter of George Howard, 6th Earl of Carlisle and Lady Georgiana Cavendish, eldest daughter of William Cavendish, 5th Duke of Devonshire).
