Frank Shipway

[1] In 1963, Shipway became music director of the South-West Essex Symphony Orchestra, soon renamed the Forest Philharmonic Society (FPS), which he would lead until 1991.

[3] In 1991, Shipway formed the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI in Italy and served as its chief conductor for four years.

[4] For several years prior to his death, Shipway was a frequent guest conductor with the São Paulo State Symphony; he made two recordings with the orchestra for BIS Records and was considered for the post of musical director upon the departure of John Neschling.

[4] Shipway died on 6 August 2014 of injuries sustained in a car accident in Wedhampton, Wiltshire, England.

[2] Shipway's only recordings were made with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the São Paulo State Symphony.
