He was a member of the jury at the 16th Berlin International Film Festival.

[2] His 1982 film Doctor Faustus was entered into the 13th Moscow International Film Festival where it won the Silver Prize.

[5] In 1997 he won the Berlinale Camera award at the 47th Berlin International Film Festival.

[6] His father, Franz Seitz Sr. was also a film director.
