Carquois was one of 13 Claymore-class destroyers built for the French Navy in the first decade of the 20th century.
The ship was launched on 26 June 1907 and was assigned to the Mediterranean Squadron (Escadre de la Méditerranée) after her completion in August 1908.
[2] When the First World War began in August 1914, Carquois was still assigned to the 1st Destroyer Flotilla [3] at Brest and remained with the unit through 1915.
She was transferred to the North Sea Flotilla (Flotille de la mer du Nord), based at Dunkerque, the following year.
She served with the 3rd Aviso Squadron (Escadrille d'avisos) of the 3rd Maritime Region (3e region Maritime) from 1919 to 23 October 1926 when she was disarmed.The ship was unsuccessfully listed for sale as a patrol boat in 1926–1929, but was not struck from the naval register until 29 November 1930 and condemned 2 days later.
