Gene Carr (ice hockey)

He played for the St. Louis Blues, New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings, Pittsburgh Penguins and Atlanta Flames.

He played in all 16 games in the New York Rangers playoff run in 1972 which ended with a finals loss to the Stanley Cup Champions, Boston Bruins.

Gene Carr died in Los Angeles from complication of back surgery on December 13, 2023, at the age of 72.

[1][2] There is speculation that Carr, a friend of Glenn Frey, was an inspiration for the Eagles' song New Kid in Town.
