Gene Cronin

Eugene Edward Cronin (November 20, 1933 – September 17, 2024) was an American professional football player who was a defensive end in the National Football League (NFL) for the Detroit Lions, Washington Redskins, and Dallas Cowboys.

[2] Cronin was selected by the Detroit Lions in the seventh round (74th overall) of the 1956 NFL draft.

Cronin was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the 1960 NFL Expansion Draft.

On August 26, 1963, he was placed on the injured reserve list with a back injury and was assigned scouting duties.

In 1965, he became the first person hired by the newly formed Atlanta Falcons and served as the Director of player personnel.
