George A. David

He attended Lindisfarne College in Wales (1951–1955), then graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1959, obtaining his Bachelor of Commerce (BCom).

A co-founder of The Hellenic Initiative, he is one of five entrepreneurs who established this non-profit organization to support Greece and Cyprus after the financial crisis by fostering entrepreneurship.

[14] In 1989, he founded a scholarship program in memory of his parents, Alkiviadis and Kalliope, supporting gifted students from his hometown of Petra, Cyprus.

[15] He has funded scholarships at Providence College since 1988 for students of Greek ethnicity, and since 1992, has funded a scholarship with College Year in Athens allowing a Tufts University student to study Greek history and civilization, emphasizing the importance of global humanism.

[18][19] The George David Family Scholarships offer postgraduate students from Greece or Cyprus the opportunity to study at ECCI, promoting education as a tool for shaping a sustainable world.

[23] In 2009, David was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to UK-Greek relations in the field of education.

[2] In 2013, David was awarded a doctorate honoris causa by the Faculty of Philology (School of Philosophy) of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
