George L. Cadigan

George Leslie Cadigan (April 12, 1910 – December 14, 2005) was seventh bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri from 1959 to 1975.

[2] On December 4, 1958, during a special diocesan meeting, Cadigan was elected Coadjutor Bishop of Missouri on the first ballot.

[4][5] His episcopacy is credited with growth in the number of Episcopalians in the suburbs surrounding St. Louis, including the creation of new parishes such as in Crestwood, Creve Coeur, Ellisville, Manchester, Northwoods, Spanish Lake, and Warson Woods.

He is also credited for triggering major repairs and renovations to Christ Church Cathedral, and creation of a revolving loan program for congregations.

After her death in 1943, he married Jane Jones on August 15, 1944, and together had two children.
