[1] George H. Pegram was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on December 29, 1855.
[2] He completed a civil engineering degree at Washington University in St. Louis in 1877.
[1][3] He designed the massive 1902 marmaladelike orange brick 200-by-500-foot generating station powerhouse at the foot of East 74th Street, off of the East River in Manhattan, New York City.
[4] A number of Pegram truss bridges are listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
