One of the best players of interwar Poland, he was a multiple champion of the country (representing Ruch Wielkie Hajduki, which in January 1939 became Ruch Chorzów) and also played 28 games on the Poland national team, scoring 9 goals.
[1] He was born in 1913 in Bismarckhütte (a settlement in Upper Silesia, which in January 1939 became part of the city of Chorzów), and died in 1982 in his hometown.
Together with Ernest Wilimowski and Teodor Peterek, he was part of one of the best forward formations in the history of Ruch.
Also, he represented Poland during one of the most famous games in Polish football history, against Brazil in Strasbourg, France, during the 1938 FIFA World Cup.
The Americans passed him to the Polish Armed Forces in the West, where he returned to football, playing for some British teams.
