The town is bounded by the Baitarani River to its north, Salapada to its east, Sailong to its west and Kainipura to its south.

The current MLA for Ghasipura Assembly Constituency is Sri Badrinarayan Patra of Biju Janata Dal, ex-education minister of the government of Odisha, who won the seat in the state elections of 2009.

The previous MLA and ex-PCC president is Shri Niranjan Pattanaik of Indian National Congress.

Every year, in the month of March, a big festival known as Baruni Yatra is held here.

An important monument of this place is a stone embankment built on the side of the river Kusai, to protect the temple from corrosion.

Major festival of this temple is Maha Shivaratri, in which thousands of devotees come to pay homage to the deity from across the state.

This Hindu matha is located in the village Sailong, 2 km south of the town.

Located near village Narangapur on the top of a Single Rock height around 400 ft (120 m)and it is 12 km away from the Ghasipura Town.
