[3] Her maternal grandfather, Sir Michael Filose, had designed Jai Vilas Mahal (known as the Gwalior palace).

[4] Her father died while she was a child and her mother remarried Lt Colonel Ernest Frederick Cambier.

[3] She went to Bedford High School and she attended University College London where she enjoyed several scholarships as she gained a degree in philosophy.

[3] On 30 April 1924 she married Sir Atul Chandra Chatterjee who was a member of the viceroy’s executive council,[3] while she was working for the Indian Educational Service.

Subsequently Lady Chatterjee presented his books to the Centre of South Asian Studies, University of Cambridge.
