Gloria Victis (novella)

Gloria Victis is a short story[1] written by Eliza Orzeszkowa, a Polish novelist and a leading writer of the Positivism in Poland.

Therefore, Gloria Victis is perceived as a tribute to the fallen and to all the people who fought for independent Poland.

Because of the revolution in Russia and the cease of censorship resulting from it, Orzeszkowa was able to write Gloria Victis without using superfluous metaphors, so that it could be easily understood.

[3] The story , which tackles the problem of the January Uprising, is narrated by nature (wind, trees and flowers).

[clarification needed] It was Anielka who came to see the place where her loved ones died and after a short visit she left the glade never to return.
