Golden North Salmon Derby

Contestants may anchor their vessels overnight in Swanson Harbor, southwest of Point Couverton, but this area is not allowed for fishing.

Prizes are awarded to the top hundred finishers, including cash and gift certificates/gift cards.

Additionally, the organizers release twelve specially-tagged salmon into the derby ground.

For many years, live coverage of the derby has been broadcast on local radio stations KINY and KSUP.

2020 saw strict measures undertaken, such as wearing masks & social distancing from other contestants.
