[4] On July 6, 2022 Goshen Township and some surrounding areas were devastated by a EF-2 tornado.

The township office building also serves as the communities tornado shelter.

The main fire station suffered severe damage with partial collapse of the building.

The tornado continued on a southeast track through Goshen Township, destroying several homes and causing damage to all of the school buildings located on the Goshen local school district grounds.

[citation needed] The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1.
