It is an intermediate stop on the standard gauge Jura Foot line of Swiss Federal Railways.
[1] Grandson railway station was inaugurated in 1859 with the opening of the Yverdon-les-Bains - Vaumarcus section of the Jura Foot line.
[5][6] The electrification of the line, from Yverdon-les-Bains to Biel/Bienne, was commissioned on 23 December 1927.
[7][8][9] This extension required the construction of a platform along a former freight train overpass track, reused for stopping RER Vaud trains and reversing them at the platform.
