[3] In 2006, the team decided to become its own club and on 6 October 2006, FFC United Schwerzenbach was founded in Greifensee, Zurich.

Soon after, in June 2008, the collaboration between Grasshopper Club Zurich and FFC United Schwerzenbach was announced and in the following season the team played as GC/Schwerzenbach.

GC/Schwerzenbach was dissolved a year later, as the team became fully integrated into Grasshopper Club as the women's football division.

[4] On 4 September 2023, the club decided to incorporate their women's football team under the name GC Frauenfussball AG.
