Gratz Park Historic District

Gratz Park is a neighborhood and historic district located just north of downtown Lexington, Kentucky.

Gratz Park occupies a tract of land that was established in 1781 outside the original boundaries of Lexington.

The Park was the original site of Transylvania College until the building was destroyed by fire in 1829.

The Historic Christ Church Cathedral is located at the edge of the district at 166 Market Street.

[2] One is the 1904 or 1905 or 1906-built Classical Revival-style Carnegie library, at the south end of the park, designed by architect Herman L. Rowe (see photo 5 accompanying the NRHP document).
