Gretna is a town in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, United States.

The Gretna High football program has produced some prolific teams and claims 5 AA state championships.

At the 2000 census there were 1,257 people, 569 households, and 326 families living in the town.

There were 635 housing units at an average density of 592.5 per square mile (228.8/km2).
