Guyra Shire was a local government area located in the New England region of New South Wales, Australia.
At the 2011 census, there were 4,397 people in the Guyra local government area, of these an approximately equal number were males and females.
When compared with total population growth of Australia for the same periods, being 5.78 per cent and 8.32 per cent respectively, population growth in the Guyra local government area was significantly lower than the national average.
[5] The median weekly income for residents within the Guyra Shire was significantly below the national average.
[9] Following an independent review, on 12 May 2016 the Minister for Local Government announced that the merger with the Armidale Dumaresq Shire would proceed with immediate effect.
