HMS Royal George (1827)

[1] Boilers and engines were placed in space previously used for water tanks.

Further space had to be given over to storing coal, which made the ship rather crowded.

[2] It was announced in 1864 that she would replace the Ajax as the Coast-guard ship at Devonport.

[3] On 27 October 1867, Royal George was driven ashore at Kingstown, County Dublin.
