[3] Hambletonian 10 was bred by Jonas Seely, Jr., on his farm at Sugar Loaf in Orange County, New York.

Hambletonian 10, from his Standard registered number,[7] made his first public appearance at the age of 6 months at the nearby Orange County Fair in Goshen.
