The racial makeup of the township was 98.53% White, 0.61% African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.21% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.21% from other races, and 0.25% from two or more races.

There were 1,080 households, out of which 29.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.3% were married couples living together, 7.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.5% were non-families.
