The club played under that name until the 1955–56 season, when they were promoted to Liga Bet, the third tier of Israeli football at the time.
Hapoel played in the South division of Liga Alef until they were relegated at the end of the 1997–98 season.
In 1991, the club reached the semi-final of the Israel State Cup, where they lost 2–4 to Hapoel Petah Tikva.
[4] However, they were relegated back to Liga Bet, after they finished third bottom in the 2001–02 season.
After beating Hapoel Kafr Qasim Shouaa, Beitar Ramat Gan and Ironi Modi'in, they faced the 14th-placed club in Liga Alef South division, Maccabi Kabilio Jaffa, in the decisive promotion/relegation play-offs.
