A few months short of his 16th birthday, he made a debut for the club against Celje in a Slovenian PrvaLiga match on 24 May 2008, coming on as a late substitute.
Vučkić made his Newcastle debut on 26 August 2009 as a late substitute in a League Cup tie with Huddersfield Town, where he played on the left wing.
