Harry E. Sears (admiral)

Harry Edward Sears (22 August 1906 – 29 January 1998) was a United States Navy vice admiral.

[1] Born and raised in Beverly, Massachusetts, Sears was appointed to the United States Naval Academy in 1924.

[1][2][3] On 10 April 1943, Commander Sears was assigned to form a new squadron of patrol bombers at Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

[4] Admiral William F. "Bull" Halsey selected Sears to fly first lady Eleanor Roosevelt on the last leg of her August 1943 tour of the South Pacific combat zone.

He died at the Bethesda Naval Hospital after suffering a stroke and was buried at Arlington National Cemetery on 11 February 1998.
