Hartford (village), Vermont

Hartford is one of five unincorporated villages in the town of Hartford, Windsor County, Vermont, United States.

Hartford is the birthplace of Horace Wells, the first dentist to use nitrous oxide or "laughing gas" as anesthesia.

In its early years, it was the town's principal community center, but it was later supplanted in that role by White River Junction, which is approximately one mile east of Hartford village.

In the 19th century Hartford village was the site of several industries, including a grain mill, a chair factory, and a woolen mill.
