Hartvig Marcus Frisch

Hartvig Marcus Frisch (7 September 1754 – 22 August 1816) was a Danish businessman who served as director of the Royal Greenland Trading Department from 1781 to 1816.

The Frisch House, his former home in Copenhagen, located at Nytorv 5, was designed by Nicolai Abildgaard.

His father, who was also called Hartvig Marcus Frisch (1709–1781), was inspector at Øresind Custom House.

He assisted his father who, as a German-speaking Holsteiner, was challenged by the increasing use of Danish under Ove Høegh-Guldberg's years in office.

A few years later, he bought a property on Nytorv and charged civolai Abildgaard with the design of the building now known as the Frisch House after him.
