About 29.4% of all households were made up of individuals, and 18.30% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
In 2000, it broke its Democratic heritage by voting for Republican nominee George W. Bush.
Since then, the county has taken a sharp Republican turn, moving rightward in every subsequent election as of 2020.
