Hennstedt, Steinburg

[2] Hennstedt is located approximately ten kilometers north of Kellinghusen in the Aukrug Nature Park.

The town was first mentioned in writing as the property of Rotmar von Henstide in the year 1148.

The coat of arms, designed by the graphic artist Uwe Nagel, is described as follows: A red cartwheel adorns a silver background above a green hill with six golden bricks; it is bordered at the top by a thrice-curved blue chief.

The three mountains and the hill illustrate Hennstedt's elevated position compared to neighboring communities.

The neo-Gothic Christ Church was built in 1907 according to the plans of the Hamburg architect Hugo Groothoff.
