Henry Gill S.J., M.C., D.S.O., was an Irish Jesuit priest and scientist, who for four years served as a chaplain in the Great War.
Gill earned the Military Cross, Distinguished Service Order, serving with the 2nd Royal Irish Rifles.
He continued his studies in England with the famous Professor J. J. Thomson, Cavendish Laboratories, Cambridge from 1906 to 1908.
[3] He conducted theoretical research into seismology which encouraged other Jesuits to pursue studies in the field.
[4] In 1914 just after the start of the First World War, he joined the 2nd Irish Rifles as a chaplain, serving for four years.
