Herrick, South Dakota

Herrick is a town in Gregory County, South Dakota, United States.

[7] The town was named for a nephew of Ohio governor Myron T. Herrick, who opened former Indian land to settlement.

[9] According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.52 square miles (1.35 km2), all land.

The racial makeup of the town was 97.14% White, 0.95% African American, and 1.90% from two or more races.

There were no families and 6.0% of the population living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and none of those over 64.

This event is celebrated with activities like the annual hog calling contest, parade, dance, and a pork barbecue.
