Higashi-Sakata Station (東酒田駅, Higashi-Sakata-eki) is a railway station located in the city of Sakata, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan, operated by the East Japan Railway Company (JR East).
Trains of the Rikuu West Line also continue past the nominal terminus of that line at Amarume Station towards Sakata, stopping at this station en route.
Higashi-Sakata Station began operations as the Higashi-Sakata Signal (東酒田信号場) on March 31, 1944, and was elevated to a full station on the JNR (Japan National Railway) on December 25, 1958.
With the privatization of the JNR on April 1, 1987, the station came under the control of the East Japan Railway Company.
