Highland Township, Muskingum County, Ohio

Located on the eastern edge of the county, it borders the following townships: No municipalities are located in Highland Township.

Highland Township was so named for the lofty elevation of the land within its borders.

[4] Statewide, the only other Highland Township is located in Defiance County.

By the 1830s, Highland Township had two saw mills, two gristmills, and two churches.

[5] The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1.
