[1][2][5][6] The design was built by Hinckley Yachts in the United States, from 1976 until 1981, but it is now out of production.
[1][2][7][8] The Hinckley 43 (Hood) is a recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass, with wood trim.
It has a masthead sloop rig; a raked stem; a raised counter, reverse transom, a skeg-mounted rudder controlled by a wheel and a fixed fin keel with a retractable centerboard.
[1][2] The boat is fitted with a Westerbeke W-40 FWC diesel engine of 40 hp (30 kW) for docking and maneuvering.
The galley is equipped with a three-burner stove, an ice box and a double sink.
