Hip Hop for Respect is a benefit maxi-single brought together by American hip hop duo Black Star to speak out against police brutality after four New York City Police Department officers murdered West African immigrant Amadou Diallo fired 41 shots at the unarmed man.

Recording sessions took place at Sony Music Studios and Master Cutting Room in New York City.

Production was handled by Organized Noize, Mr. Khaliyl and 88-Keys, with Devin Roberson, Mos Def and Talib Kweli serving as executive producers.
