Historic Sites (South Korea)

Historic Sites (Korean: 사적) is a national-level designation within the heritage preservation system of South Korea for places of important historical value.

It is managed by the Administrator of the Cultural Heritage Administration, under article 25 of Cultural Heritage Protection Act of South Korea [ko].

[1] More recent structures, namely those from the late 19th century to the 1940s, are not eligible for listing as "Historic Sites", but rather may be officially listed under the designation 'Cultural Heritage of Early Modern Times' under 'Registered Cultural Heritage'.

This can be done "if they are highly valuable and on the verge of destruction or deterioration".

[2] Missing numbers in each table indicate cancelled designations.
