Hlobane is a town in Zululand District Municipality in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa.

Coal-mining centre 27 km east of Vryheid and 31 km south-west of Louwsburg.

The locality was known as such in the 19th century and the name applied to the town in 1924.

[2] It was the scene of the battle of Hlobane in the Zulu War, on 28 March 1879.
